Artist’s Statement
Everywoman, my current series of paintings, is based on stories of the lives of women; some from the lives of women I know, others from women I've heard of; still others from my own life.
Women live close to the texture of life, along the seam between the apparent and the inferred.
Theirs are lives of courage and grace, both simple and complex. Everything is possible and nothing is easy.
Sometimes everything matters, sometimes only one thing matters and still other times nothing matters at all.
Our goals are simple...to be true, to be kind, to be brave. And when we can't we wrap ourselves in our tattered dignity and carry on.
These women can be any of us. All broken hearts are the same heart; all lost souls are the same soul. In saving you, I save myself."
